We’ve only gone and done it again! For the second year running, our business won the Creative Business award at the Rossendale Business Awards. We found out at the annual awards ceremony last week and couldn’t wait to give you a rundown of the night!
The R Awards are now the biggest event in the Rossendale business calendar and we were excited to even be there with some great businesses who are all based around the Valley.
The Big Night
The night kicked off with a yummy buffet at The Riverside Whitworth, which was absolutely packed out! The room was full of Rossendale’s finest and the awards soon started to be handed out. 17 were given in total and we had a fab performance from a local youth dance group.
We started to get very nervous as time moved closer towards the categories we were up for, we might have had a couple of drinks to steady our nerves!
As mentioned in a previous post, we were beyond thrilled to find out that we had once again been nominated in two categories; the Creative Business and Independent Retailer awards. We didn’t think we had a chance of winning for a second year, so we were surprised but over the moon to win!
Creative Business Award
As a business that strives to create original creative designs, The Creative Business Award was definitely the most coveted for us! We were up against some tough competition though; Alexis from Walking On Glass and the guys over at Creation Signs. Both are businesses that create great products, especially Alexis, who is so talented! (he actually engraved the glass trophies presented at the awards)
That’s why we were stunned when our name was read out by Hannah and Simon from local SEO agency, Grow Traffic. Before our name was read out, Simon mentioned that everyone had been impressed by the brilliant commercial success the winner had shown over the past year, while still retaining their creative philosophy. Thanks Simon!
Hannah and Simon presented us with our award and then we trotted off for our picture taken. Sorry if all three of us still look a little stunned in the picture! We won the award and were whisked away very quickly!
The second award we were nominated for, Independent Retailer was won by Ruby & Daisy. A really well deserved win for the Haslingden clothing boutique. We really love their story – two friends who decided to set up a business, taking each of their daughters names to create the brand.
However, all wasn’t lost for Kidult and Co – we were surprised to be presented with a Highly Commended certificate right before the it was announced that Ruby and Daisy had won. We weren’t too sad to lose to such a great business, well done guys!
With so many awards to get through on the night, it was all very exciting and a little bit of blur! We didn’t get chance to thank anyone, so here goes!
Thanks to everybody who has had faith in us since the very start – this year has been phenomenal for us. We never expected to win an award last year so to go and win the same one this year, proves we must be doing something right!
Creativity is at the heart of what we do – we put creative passion into our clothing brand and we want kids to feel creative whilst wearing the clothes.
Getting recognition and applause from the Rossendale business community, especially from those who are older, wiser, and more established than us, really gives us even more strength to carry on with what we do.
One of the local councillors at the awards, said that “everyone was winners”, and we really do agree with that – we are lucky to work amongst such great people! Thanks to everyone who made the awards possible, and well done to everyone! A huge thanks too, to Liz Hall for supplying the fab photographs.
We are off to celebrate now with a drink or two! Here’s to next year’s awards!
